Founded by Silvina Der Meguerditchian in Berlin in 2024, salon plektrum emerged from the urgent need to create a space for exchange and dialogue following the dissolution of the Republic of Artsakh and the ethnic cleansing of its Armenian population. In response to the lack of public response, the salon began as a series of regular gatherings, fostering connection and collective reflection.
The first collective outcome of these gatherings was the performative dinner Genatz!, which premiered as part of the pre-opening of 100 + 10 – Armenian Allegories at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin in April 2025.
salon plektrum is a platform for creatives and scholars dedicated to interdisciplinary collaboration, amplifying underrepresented voices, and exploring diasporic experiences—particularly those of the Armenian diaspora and the Republic of Armenia. Our work is grounded in the belief that art and collective inquiry can transform the challenges of the present and past into pathways for imaginative and resilient futures.
We are committed to creating interdisciplinary formats and spaces that engage with discourses relating to the countries that are home to the Armenian diaspora and the Republic of Armenia. By bringing together the arts, literature, critical thinking, the sciences, and cultural politics, we aim to raise awareness of the complexities of diasporic entanglements.
salon plektrum’s sustainability lies in its vision of fostering multidimensional discourse—continuing to explore the intersections of art, scholarship, and
cultural politics to illuminate the rich, layered narratives of diasporic communities.
The platform currently brings together the work of Silvina Der Meguerditchian, Jasmin İhraç, Karen Jallatyan, Ani Menua, Tsolak Topchyan, Gary Vanisian, and Veronika Zablotsky.
